Getting ready for bed, Francine objects to Stan eating cake while celebrating an upcoming assassination. While Stan's behavior with Francine and the public is boorish, Stan gets the kill and is surprised with a party celebrating his 100th kill. The next morning, he is confronted with Francine's smiling face as she tells him of being nice to her. Stan rushes to see Roger's Dr. Penguin and tells him of his nightmare of being nice. Dr. Penguin tells him it is the result of failing to maintain his habit of eating cake before bed and Stan leaves happy. But the next morning, Stan awakes to find himself the director of an orphanage. In addition to a job he doesn't want, he finds he also paid off the orphanage bus loan and as he flees, finds he adopted a child whom he promptly abandons in his runaway car.
At home, Stan goes without sleeping for days in an effort to avoid being nice. But during a power nap with Klaus watching, Klaus drugs him to stay asleep for hours. When he wakes up, he finds he set up a soup kitchen in his home. Snoozing during a briefing, Bullock offers him some cocaine in an effort to keep him going but he declines while Bullock quickly gets wired. On the way to an assassination, Roger shows him a video of him telling himself that he will stop Stan's killing and bad deeds as Stan refuses to allow himself to be stopped. But taking a nap before the assassination at The Hotel Ritchey, he believes he has foiled his good self until he finds his bullets replaced with gummy bears. Bullock replaces Stan on the assassination, but Stan refuses to give up as Bullock fires him as well.
Going to see Dr. Penguin, Stan is ready to concede defeat until convinced all he needs to do is kill a bad guy to beat his good self and return to normal. Roger guides him to a target but despite his story, it turned out that the guy only took a pretzel Roger wanted. Stan comes up with his own idea of placing his good self in a position of being forced to kill instead by placing himself and many innocents into a terrorist's bombing target at an IHOP. Good Stan awakes in the situation and shoots the terrorist in the leg. That still doesn't have the desired result and he is forced to slowly beat the terrorist to death. With his job back, Stan takes a good night's sleep and meets with his good self in a wild west dream who offers a team up, but Stan instead sets him up to be dragged off by his horse.
