While taking Hayley to college for registration, Stan belittles her lack of planning, from her school to her choice of husband, who has been ingesting psychedelic teas. Running late, he slips into a meeting and offers his full support for Bullock's plan to take down some arms dealers. Taking Hayley along to show her how planning can lead to success, the agents stumble into a trap and are nearly wiped out. Bullock continues his streak of poor missions until Hayley discovers him performing at a club as "DJ Buttercup." Stan confronts him about a large number of unsuccessful missions and discovers that his dual life is taking its toll on his mental capacity, although he refuses to give it up and insists that the only way he will step down is to be defeated in a DJ battle.
Woefully unprepared to take him on and avoid a guaranteed suicide mission, Hayley tries to help by giving Stan some of Jeff's psychedelic tea and he later goes on to win the battle with music he ripped to a flash drive from YouTube. However, he is kidnapped by Russian weapons smugglers who mistake him for Bullock. When he convinces them that they have the wrong person, he still faces death until he gets a chance to DJ the smuggler's daughter's birthday. When his flash drive is smashed, he fashions a new one by pulling raw materials out of a cliff face and performs beautifully, only to discover he is still on his trip and the battle has yet to happen. On the way to the club, they smash into Bullock's car, stopping them both cold until Stan decides to follow Hayley's advice of 'go with the flow' and proceeds to shove Bullock's car down the road, with the idea that if he can't get to the match, he can't win. However, Stan's SUV breaks down right in front of the club, and after Bullock tokes up, he heads towards inside.
Meanwhile, after Jeff hallucinates a musical instrument from drinking psychedelic tea, Roger decides as a joke to help get one. They visit a music shop where the clerk insists that no such instrument exists. Undeterred, they visit various lumberyards, collecting plywood to make it themselves. At home, Roger gathers Francine and Steve to listen to Jeff's performance, but he delays the concert until the instrument tells him to perform.
As they proceed to the club to perform there, they nearly strike Bullock who is rushing towards the club. Jeff takes the cue to perform the instrument as guided by lying down in the street. As he plays, the family enjoys the music as Bullock curls up next to him. Roger later takes the instrument back to the music shop and flaunts it to the clerk's face to prove it really did exist.
